Boeing Business Jets announced yesterday that it made the first two BBJ 787-8 deliveries of 2014 over the past week to separate undisclosed customers. These aircraft mark the second and third BBJ 787s delivered to date, after the first one was handed over to a customer in December. Like all BBJs, the airplanes were delivered green and are undergoing completion at third-party outfitting centers.

Lufthansa Technik subsidiary Bizjet International is expanding its FBO services at Tulsa International Airport with the refurbishment of one of its hangars into a new terminal. Expected to open this month, the relocated FBO in Hangar 29 on the north side of the airport will have more than 33,000 sq ft of heated aircraft storage space along with a 2,500-sq-ft terminal that will include a passenger lounge, onsite car rental, pilot lounge, kitchen, a large A/V-equipped conference room, snooze rooms, showers and crew courtesy cars.
Avjet expects to break ground this month on a new FBO at Seoul Gimpo International Airport. According to the company, plans for the facility call for enough hangar space to accommodate four BBJ-sized aircraft, along with four large-cabin business jets such as the Bombardier Global. The project is a partnership between the California-based aviation services provider and Korea Airport Corp. Avjet Asia was awarded a 10-year contract to manage the facility, which is expected to be completed in October next year.
Associated Air Center (AAC) of Tempe, Ariz., has been awarded a contract for the custom interior completion of a Boeing 787-8 BBJ, and staffing, training and infrastructure development are under way in preparation for the project. AAC expects delivery of the green aircraft from Boeing by this summer, and AAC’s in-house design is now undergoing a full review. The contract, signed in late December, capped months of discussions and work with Boeing engineers.
Associated Air Center (AAC) has been awarded the interior completion contract for a green Boeing 787-8 BBJ. The aircraft interior is already under full design review. AAC has also kicked off detailed planning, staffing and training in anticipation of delivery of the green aircraft from Boeing in the middle of this year. The aircraft offers 2,404 sq ft of cabin floor area and a range of 9,590 nm; the larger 787-9 BBJ offers 2,762 sq ft of cabin space and a range of 9,950 nm.
Odyssey Aerospace Components, a cabinetry and interior components manufacturer for Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Gulfstream business jets, has been contracted to provide interior work for a Boeing Business Jet customer.
The project includes cabinetry and other interior components for a stateroom, galley, lavatory and other cabin zones. The Denton, Texas-based center, a Greenpoint Technologies property, plans to deliver all elements this year.
Royal Jet, the Abu Dhabi-based jet charter company, announced yesterday a decision to completely renew its fleet by 2020. The company has been exploring options with various OEMs for the past 12 months, but is expected to remain a key Boeing Business Jet customer.

Aviation Partners Boeing last month announced that, after launching on the Boeing 737 NG, split scimitar winglets can now be fitted on the Boeing BBJ family. The new split scimitar winglets offer a significant reduction of drag compared to the non-winglet-equipped Boeings and a noticeable drag reduction for those equipped with Aviation Partners Boeing blended winglets.
Abu Dhabi’s Royal Jet, the commercial luxury private-jet operator, is to issue an RFP for the replacement of six Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) aircraft within the next two months, as it seeks to expand regional charter operations in the Middle East, Africa and beyond.
