With runway construction nearing completion, Jet Aviation Dubai has resumed full operations from its maintenance facility and newly refurbished FBO at Dubai International Airport. The company took the opportunity to rebrand its FBO while the airport resurfaced its runway in order to integrate the new corporate look and feel initially launched at the Jet Aviation facilities in Geneva and Zurich last year.

Royal Jet, Abu Dhabi’s luxury air charter operator, postponed its major fleet-replacement orders until the second half of the year after a board meeting last month. However, the company hopes an eventual delivery schedule will not be affected by this delay.

Rockwell Collins’s Venue cabin management and HD entertainment system was selected by Sabena Technics for installation aboard a Boeing BBJ. The updated BBJ cabin will feature HD monitors and digital audio throughout the aircraft for watching Blu-ray disc movies and other high-resolution content, such as real-time flight information from Rockwell Collins’s Airshow 3-D moving map. These features are built upon a fiber-optic backbone that ensures maximum system availability and enough bandwidth to integrate the latest consumer technologies.

Boeing Business Jets announced an order on Tuesday for a BBJ 777-300ER to an undisclosed customer. This is the second widebody bizliner order for the company this year, it said. Since Boeing Business Jets introduced the 747-8 and 787 in 2006, widebody airplanes have accounted for nearly 40 percent of the total net orders at the division. The BBJ 777 will be delivered green to the customer’s completion center of choice for outfitting.

EASA has given approval to DC Aviation to expand its maintenance capabilities to include the Bombardier Challenger 604/605. Through its facility at Dubai World Central, DC Aviation Al-Futtaim, the joint venture between DC Aviation and Al-Futtaim, can now offer line maintenance support to customers operating the Challenger as well as the Airbus A320 series and Bombardier Global Express.

Zodiac Aerospace finalized the acquisition of Denton, Texas-based BBJ completions center and bizliner cabin interior component manufacturer Greenpoint Technologies. Greenpoint employs 450 people and has annual revenues of approximately $150 million. Zodiac said the acquisition will further enhance its competencies in completing cabin interiors for large private jets, and that it “will support Greenpoint’s development and bring its skills in cabin certification and its know-how in the design and manufacturing of interiors components.”

In a ceremony complete with a band, acrobatic performers and lion dancers to bring luck and prosperity to the new facilities, and 150 spectators, Jet Aviation Singapore opened the doors of its 80,700-sq-ft hangar facility at Seletar Aerospace Park on May 31. Center stage was the MRO’s new $25 million, 53,800-sq-ft hangar erected adjacent to the company’s original facility.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based consultancy firm MAZ Aviation and satellite airtime provider Satcom1 are joining forces to design a faster satcom system for the Airbus ACJ and Boeing BBJ. According to the partnership agreement, the system will be based on Ka- and Ku- band solutions and will offer greater bandwidth for airborne communications. Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband and its safety services features will be used for cockpit communications needs.

VIP completion specialist Aeria Luxury Interiors (Booth 3539) of San Antonio, Texas is displaying conceptual renderings prepared by its interior design team for Boeing narrow- and wide-body aircraft. Aeria, the completions division of ST Aerospace, is now preparing for its first BBJ green cabin completion, said Ron Soret, vice president and general manager of completions.
