Intertrade, a Rockwell Collins company that supplies recertified used aircraft parts, expanded its product offerings to include engine parts. Intertrade’s primary market focus is material for the CFM56-5B, CFM56-7B, V2500-A5 and PW4000, among other next-generation engines. The company offers customers a variety of support options, including consignment and outright sale. Intertrade’s new engine division will be located in Boca Raton, Fla. The company has appointed Jeff Plas, an engine expert and industry veteran, to lead the business.

NBAA announced that its 2014 Business Aviation Regional Forums will be held at airports in Florida, California and Texas. On Jan. 30, 2014, Signature Flight Support will host a regional forum at Boca Raton (Fla.) Airport. A second regional forum at Van Nuys (Calif.) Airport will be co-hosted by Maguire Aviation (to be acquired by Signature, pending antitrust approvals) and TWC Aviation on June 26. Business Jet Center at Dallas Love Field will host the third forum next September 18.

GA Telesis has appointed Rebecca Longo to the position of vice president of its Aircraft Systems Group, where she will oversee all airframe component sales from the company’s Fort Lauderdale headquarters. Before joining GA Telesis, Rebecca served as the vice president of Strategic Development for PartsBase in Boca Raton, Fla., where she was responsible for the global sales team as well as oversight of business development strategies.

Eclipse Aerospace has named Boca Aircraft Maintenance located in Boca Raton, Fla., the exclusive U.S. Southeast region factory-authorized gold service center for the Eclipse 500. Boca Aircraft Maintenance will provide maintenance services, parts distribution, airframe, engine and avionics inspections as well as AOG services for the Eclipse 500 within the region.

Occupancy of a new, expanded terminal and office complex by Galaxy Aviation of Palm Beach, Fla.,  certainly seemed cause for a fifth anniversary celebration by the growing FBO group that now includes Boca Raton (Boca Aviation), Stuart and Orlando, Fla. The facility includes a new 11,000-sq-ft terminal and expanded office complex, as well as 95,000 sq ft of additional hangar and office space, plus 350,000 sq ft of additional aircraft parking.

On Tuesday, Boca Raton, Fla.-based DayJet made the difficult decision to put its growth plans on hold after not being able to obtain another $50 million in funding to move to the next stage. As a result, the per-seat, on-demand air-taxi operator laid off 100 of its roughly 260 employees and now plans to sell or lease out 16 of its 28 Eclipse 500s. Per-seat, on-demand very light jet air-taxi firm DayJet yesterday added Naples, Fla., and Savannah, Ga., as DayPorts, augmenting the five initial DayPorts in Boca Raton, Gainesville, Lakeland, Pensacola and Tallahassee, Fla. In addition, the company added 12 new DayStops in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. “Naples and Savannah are strategic additions to our DayPort service network,” said DayJet president and CEO Ed Iacobucci.

Hamid Hashemi’s LAH Aviation Holdings purchased Avitat Boca Raton from Muvico Theaters on October 30. Avitat Boca Raton isn’t planning any short-term changes to its 17,000-sq-ft terminal and 75,000 sq ft of hangar space, but Hashemi is planning to build an on-premises high-end restaurant and an office building, according to an LAH spokesman.

Florida FBO focuses
on amenities
Plenty of FBOs at popular destinations offer movie rooms with giant projector screens, comfortable seating and popcorn machines, but Avitat Boca Raton at South Florida’s Boca Raton Airport might be the only FBO with its own movie theater. The FBO is located next door to the Muvico Palace 20, a movie theater famous for its stadium seating, full bar and dinner-plus-movie balcony auditoriums.

Bob Walesch since 1984 has held senior positions with four major FBOs and spearheaded the launches of two of them that are located on medium-size business-aviation airports near warm oceans. He’s now the v-p and general manager of the brand-new Avitat Boca Raton (Fla.), which opened late last year.
