King Schools has launched an online Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC) that it says is not only “interesting, relevant and sometimes provocative” but is also the first such course to incorporate a paperwork-free, completely online renewal process. According to John and Martha King of King Schools, the company’s FIRC “gives flight instructors more insight on issues such as identifying and changing at-risk behaviors, and conducting an effective flight review,” said John King.

Shortly after AIN went to press for last month’s issue, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) made last-minute modifications to its alien flight-training rule, which was scheduled for implementation on October 20. Among other provisions, the interim final rule transferred responsibility for background checks from the Department of Justice to the Department of Homeland Security and the TSA.
