Jet Aviation Flight Services has received authorization from the Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation (BDCA) as a continued airworthiness management organization (Camo). The authorization allows Jet Aviation to manage the maintenance of aircraft registered in Bermuda, where managing aircraft by a Camo has been mandatory since 2010. “We are delighted to meet the high standards of the BDCA,” said Don Haloburdo, v-p and general manager of Jet Aviation Flight Services.
Universal Aviation opened a dedicated business aviation FBO at Bermuda L.F. Wade International Airport late last week. Universal Aviation Bermuda features on-site customs and immigration, 130,000 sq ft of ramp parking, fully equipped lounges and conference rooms. In addition, all ground support employees are certified by the National Air Transportation Association’s Safety 1st professional line service training program, according to parent company Universal Weather & Aviation.
L.F. Wade Bermuda International Airport now has a newly renovated private jet terminal. The LOM Group has assumed a five-year sponsorship of the terminal now known as the LOM Executive Jet Facility at Hamilton Airport, Bermuda. Owned and operated by Bermuda Aviation Services, the terminal–located across the tarmac from the airline center–serves the more than 2,000 private jets that visit the island every year.
Bermuda’s L.F. Wade International Airport is now closed to general aviation and non-scheduled commercial traffic between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The airport, which recently obtained civil certification, formerly received infrastructure support from the U.S. military for 24/7 ATC operations and aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF).
The Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation has granted approval to Boca Aircraft Maintenance to maintain and repair Bermuda-registered aircraft under an AMO Certificate. The Boca Raton aircraft maintenance company specializes in Falcons and is also an authorized Gold Level Eclipse service center.
As of November 18, Bermuda is requiring all foreign operators of business aircraft with an mtow of more than 12,500 pounds to have a safety management system (SMS) and meet other requirements under ICAO Annex 6.2.3.
