Boeing Business Jets (Chalet 140) is pulling double duty here at ABACE 2013, showcasing the BBJ, the VIP version of the Seattle-based airframer’s 737 airliner, while simultaneously celebrating the 40th year of Boeing commercial sales in China and the delivery of the 1,000th Boeing airliner to the market, a 737-800 purchased by China Eastern Airlines.
Jet Aviation St. Louis received its first Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) last month, and a second is scheduled to arrive later this spring. Both aircraft will undergo maintenance and minor interior upgrades. Construction of a hangar sized for single-aisle bizliners, training of technicians and investment in infrastructure paved the way for the BBJ projects. The MRO sent technicians to its sister facility in Basel, Switzerland, to gain first-hand experience working on BBJs. The cooperative work program began in early 2010.
Jet Aviation St. Louis welcomed its first Boeing Business Jet last month and its second BBJ is scheduled to arrive this spring, the company announced today. Both aircraft will have maintenance and minor interior upgrades performed at the facility. To capture BBJ completions and maintenance work at the St. Louis outpost, the company built a hangar sized for single-aisle bizliners and invested in other infrastructure. It has also sent St. Louis technicians to Jet Aviation’s sister facility in Basel, Switzerland, to gain first-hand experience working on BBJs.
Zurich, Switzerland-based ExecuJet Aviation announced it has sourced, secured and delivered a pre-owned Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) in what it claims is a record–less than six weeks. Approached by the client in December, ExecuJet was tasked with ensuring the aircraft was delivered by the end of last month. The company delivered the aircraft on January 28 and the BBJ flew from Europe to the owner’s base in South Africa on January 31. ExecuJet Europe is managing the BBJ on behalf of the owner.
The Hyundai Motor Co. has selected Iacobucci HF to provide seating for its new Boeing BBJ, just a few months after Iacobucci launched its new VIP seat business. With the support of Avjet, Comlux America will outfit the BBJ, the second of the type in Iacobucci’s orderbook. Boeing will deliver the bizliner to Comlux in the second quarter of next year and it should be completed within the year.
Boeing Business Jets president Steve Taylor chose a unique venue for yesterday’s BBJ press briefing: Comlux’s head-of-state-outfitted BBJ 767-200, which is here at the MEBA show static display on a break from its normally busy charter schedule. The Comlux BBJ 767, which is based in Bahrain, can fly up to 6,400 nm with a full load of 60 passengers and 10 tons of freight.
Jet Aviation St. Louis is slated to receive its first BBJ in April for scheduled maintenance and interior upgrades. The project includes the first installation of Boeing’s enhanced vision system service bulletins for an aircraft in private use. The BBJ will undergo its 12-year inspection and landing-gear overhaul. Additionally, some interior surfaces of the aircraft will be refinished and some headliner panels will be recovered.
When a business aircraft completion takes more than 500,000 man-hours, you know nothing was spared on the project. “The principal set very high standards for this elegant interior,” said Bernd Schramm, COO of Amac Group, which delivered the first Boeing BBJ 777-200LR this week to a Middle East-based customer.
Basel, Switzerland-based Amac’s business is split among executive completions, maintenance work and its hangar space, which can accommodate up to three widebodies and six single-aisle bizliners, along with lighter aircraft.
Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) reconfirmed plans today to build the BBJ Max, the executive version of Boeing’s 737 Max commercial jet that uses the CFM International Leap 1-B engines. Paralleling the commercial program, the first BBJ Max 8 will be based on the 737 Max 8 airframe. First BBJ Max 8 deliveries are expected in the 2017 to 2018 time frame. The BBJ Max 9 will follow, while plans for a BBJ Max 7 are under study.
Boeing Business Jets (BBJ), yesterday, announced plans to build the BBJ MAX, the VIP version of Boeing’s 737 MAX commercial jet and next iteration of BBJ’s executive airliners. The MAX brings the BBJ into the Leap era, using the same CFM International Leap 1-B engines and winglets as on the 737 MAX, which provide a range increase of more than 14 percent, according to Boeing.
