Dallas Airmotive, BBA Aviation’s engine repair and overhaul (ERO) company, has opened a sales and service regional headquarters in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The facility will support military, commercial, business and general aviation aircraft in Brazil and the wider region with technical assistance, import/export management, logistics, field service and line replaceable unit stocking. It is located near Pampulha Airport in Belo Horizonte.
BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) is transforming its Lafayette, La. component repair operation into a support and logistics center. The component repair work currently being done at the facility will be moved to the company’s Dallas Airmotive Heritage Park facility. “This action is in line with our long-term strategy of building our component repair business,” stated BBA Aviation ERO president Hugh McElroy.
The Signature Flight Support FBO chain has outperformed a flagging market in the first six months of this year, according to parent company BBA Aviation. Revenues at Signature were down 14 percent compared with the first half of last year, but BBA says that this compares favorably with an average 26-percent revenue decline in the U.S. business aviation ground handling sector, as well as a 20-percent drop in Europe. BBA Aviation engine repair and overhaul company Dallas Airmotive and fractional ownership provider Avantair have signed a five-year engine maintenance agreement. Dallas Airmotive will provide repair, hot-section inspection, overhaul and field service on the PT6A-66 turboprop engines that power Avantair’s fleet of 50 Piaggio Avantis. The engines will be serviced at Dallas Airmotive’s Charlotte, N.C.
BBA Aviation’s engine repair and overhaul company, Dallas Airmotive, has expanded PW305 capability at its Dallas Love Field (DAL) facility. New tooling allows the company to replace IBRs (integrally bladed rotors) on the PW305A, the engine that powers the Learjet 60. The first two engines to receive this treatment were completed in April. IBR replacement on the PW305A eliminates the requirement for inspection every 300 hours.
