Banyan Air Service president Don Campion announced earlier this year his FBO has acquired the assets and adjoining leasehold formerly owned by Cav-Air at Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Executive Airport (FXE). The new real estate adds 35 acres of prime center-field area to Banyan’s existing 50 acres. Assets included in the deal were Cav-Air’s fixed-wing maintenance division, parts distribution business and line-service concession.

Banyan Air Service began as a small company serving the needs of small operators that had no dedicated maintenance department. As the Florida company has grown, president and head coach Don Campion has strived to maintain that small-company feel. “One of my driving forces in building this business is to be good at what we do as opposed to being a bigger company with a lot of branches or a chain,” he told AIN.

Banyan Air Service’s Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based avionics department recently completed a major avionics modification on a VIP Boeing 747SP. Adding to the challenge, the work was performed in Europe over an eight-week span.

Positioning itself to take advantage of an expected economic recovery, Banyan Air Service, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based full-service FBO, has signed a contract with DeCrane Cabin Interiors of Tucson, Ariz., in a joint venture to offer business aircraft cabin refurbishment services.

Banyan Air Service, located at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, recently performed the company’s first 10-year Pilatus demate. The 28-year-old maintenance facility has been an authorized Pilatus satellite service center since 2002.

The special tooling and custom fabrication of wing shoring was developed by company employees Curtis Florio, Hartley Starratt and Misael Rodriguez under the direction of crew leader Dan Day.

Blackhawk Modification recently announced the addition of Banyan Air Service of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to its global distributor network of authorized engine upgrade centers.

Blackhawk Modifications specializes in P&WC PT6A turboprop upgrades. The company upgrades the 90- and 200-series King Airs, as well as the Conquest I and Cheyennes. Based in Waco, Texas, Blackhawk has upgraded more than 100 turboprops since 2000.
