Bombardier’s first-quarter financial results, released this morning, show a decline of company-wide revenue from $4.7 billion to $3.5 billion year over year for the Canadian manufacturer, while revenues for its aerospace division decreased from $2.2 billion to $1.5 billion. “As anticipated, we had lower revenues in the first quarter,” said president and CEO Pierre Beaudoin.

BAE Systems Regional Aircraft plans to extend its contract engineering work this year, raising the proportion of such revenues coming from third parties outside the BAE group to 92 percent. “The proportion has grown from 35 percent in 2010,” according to managing director Alan Fraser. “We have reshaped our engineering business and geared it for growth. [Our] skills, expertise and aircraft-design capability are [generating] a steady flow of new business.”

Accra, Ghana-based Aero Surveys, operating under the commercial name Starbow, plans to lease two more BAe 146 regional jetliners starting in May. The aircraft, one BAe 146-300 and one BAe 146-200, will double its fleet size to four aircraft and will add capacity to satisfy increasing demand.

Recent start-up aviation asset manager Falko (Booth No. C8030), teamed with design consultancy Design Q, has unveiled its final concept for the Avro Business Jet (ABJ) line, an airplane “that James Bond would have loved,” according to Design Q director Gary Doy. The mock-up of the interior is being shown at NBAA 2011 Annual Meeting and Convention in Las vegas, October 10 to 12.

BAE Systems and design consultancy Design Q have unveiled their latest interior concept for the Avro Business Jet, the ABJ Elegante.
Designed with “space and grandeur,” the Elegante is the fourth of five interiors commissioned by BAE from Worcestershire-based Design Q for different executive aircraft market segments.
