Shelly Hedrick had been in aviation–fractionals, charters, FBOs–for 12 years when it occurred to her recently that there was a niche in the business aviation market that she could fill.

Last month she announced the launch of JetSeat, a company providing customized overhead layouts of business and private jet interiors, for existing or proposed cabins.

The JetSeat overheads are not only to scale, but the various fabrics, designs, shapes and colors are replicated accurately, said Hedrick.

Jay Johnson, chairman and CEO of Gulfstream parent company General Dynamics, will retire at the end of the year. He will be succeeded by Phebe Novakovic, who was recently named the company’s president and COO.

Gulfstream Aerospace is set to expand its preowned aircraft sales division to include aircraft brokerage services. The company will draw on its worldwide customer and sales prospect database to facilitate its new offering, and says it will keep tabs on the global used aircraft market to ensure listings it sources are “competitively priced.”

Gulfstream Aerospace is expanding its pre-owned aircraft sales to include aircraft brokerage services. Dubbed Gulfstream Preowned Brokerage, the service will use the company’s worldwide customer and prospect database to present sellers’ aircraft. Gulfstream will also assist buyers with finance options and competitive rates, as well as consultation for aircraft customization. New owners will also be able to take advantage of Gulfstream aircraft programs, including prepaid parts program PlaneParts.

EBACE 2011 won’t open until Tuesday, but that isn’t stopping industry observers from predicting that the show will mark a turning point in the business aviation industry. One such analyst is Jahid Fazil-Karim, a partner at global aircraft broker at Jetcraft who believes optimism will be the prevailing force at this year’s EBACE.
