Charter operator Gainjet (Stand 2306) recently expanded its fleet with the addition of a 68-seat VIP-configured Boeing 737-400. The Greece-based group has made a specialty of operating former Boeing airliners, with two other 737s already in service (one with 48 seats and the other with 60 seats). The fleet also includes a very spacious 62-seat 757-200.

Starting in 1998 with just three employees in a West Palm Beach, Fla., shop, Aerospace Technologies Group (Booth No. N1726) has grown into a major producer of window shade systems for commercial and corporate aviation. One of the key moments in the company’s growth came when it became the first supplier of OEM factory-installed electro-mechanical window shade systems for the Boeing 777 and Airbus A330/340 and A380.
This is a banner year for Gore Design Completions (Booth No. N4900), according to Mohammed Alzeer, the company’s general partner, who announced here at NBAA 2013 that Gore had received a contract to complete two Boeing 787 Dreamliners in head-of-state VVIP configuration. The aircraft will be delivered from Boeing to Gore’s San Antonio, Texas facility.
Jet Aviation Basel has signed a contract to design and complete the cabin of an A340-600 long-range widebody for an undisclosed customer. Work on the green Airbus will begin in next year’s first quarter.
While many in the business aviation industry still eye China as fertile territory, a new report from business aviation consulting firm Asian Sky Group (ASG) predicts the Greater China market will see less than half the growth it experienced last year. In its First-half 2013 Greater China Fleet Additions Report, the Hong Kong-based company says that the Chinese fleet of new and used business jets is expected to increase by approximately 18 percent this year, compared with 40-percent growth last year (albeit from a smaller base total).
With demand for business aircraft weak in traditional markets like the United States, many manufacturers are looking to China for growth.
Airbus Corporate Jets has restructured as a new Airbus integrated business unit, incoming ACJ president Habib Fekih told journalists hereat the Dubai Air Show on Sunday. Two ACJs are on display at the show–an Al Jaber Aviation ACJ318 and a Comlux ACJ320 (Static A49-52).
The recent award of three new completions contracts for VIP versions of Airbus and Boeing aircraft have prompted Comlux America to begin construction of a new hangar at its Indianapolis headquarters. The 64,500-sq-ft building is due to open in the second quarter of 2012 and will be able to accommodate four jets up to the size of a Boeing BBJ3.
There were 136 private jets registered in India as of mid-March, according to new data published by the Firestone Management Group. Over the past 36 months, no fewer than 43 aircraft have been delivered to customers in India, representing a growth rate of 46 percent.
A couple observations from the GAMA 1Q general aviation aircraft delivery stats released yesterday. While business jet shipments are down 15 percent–to 350 deliveries in the quarter–from the year-ago period, manufacturers are shipping more of the higher-end jets (large cabin and bizliners), which caused billings to rise 7.1 percent to $4.64 billion.
