Gulfstream Aerospace has established a satellite flight department in Hong Kong to support Gulfstream operators in Asia, the Savannah, Ga.-based aircraft manufacturer announced yesterday at Airshow China 2012 in Zhuhai. Five pilots–three large-cabin demonstration pilots, one mid-cabin demonstration pilot and a chief pilot–staff the office.

Aviation Industry Corp. of China (Avic) is working on a “China New Generation Business Jet” (CNGBJ), the company revealed today at Airshow China 2012. A scale model of this new design is on display at the manufacturer’s exhibit booth at the six-day airshow, which opened today at the airport of Zhuhai, Guangdong province in Southern China.

The ninth edition of the biennial Airshow China opens at Zhuhai Airport in the southern province of Guangdong on November 13, with organizers promising the largest event since its start in 1996. Some 650 exhibitors from 39 countries have flocked to mainland China’s largest airshow, with many of the 80 aircraft present due to take part in the flying display before it closes on November 18.

Sonex Aircraft JSX-1, the proof-of-concept prototype of the SubSonex single-engine very light jet, will be flying during the showcase presentation at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, which starts on Monday. The SubSonex is currently scheduled to fly a five-minute demonstration in three of AirVenture pre-airshow showcases–Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The showcase takes place each day of the airshow between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Famed airshow performer Bob Carlton will be piloting the small jet during these flying displays.

Bruce’s Custom Covers has donated two sets of custom-fitted aircraft covers in support of the EAA Young Eagles program. The auction is part of the Gathering of Eagles event scheduled for July 27 during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh airshow next week. There are two auction events, and each winner will receive an aircraft covering custom-fitted to his aircraft, including a logo or tail number imprint and storage duffel bag.

Paris Air Show organizers are promising an improved experience for visitors and exhibitors at next year’s event (June 17-23). There will be a new smartphone app to help visitors, and road and pedestrian access is being rethought, although showgoers should not expect Le Bourget’s infamous traffic jams to miraculously disappear.
