  Million Air Medford purchased competing FBO Jet Center Medford and now has 90 percent of the fuel market on the Oregon airport. An Air BP fuel dealer, Million Air Medford is a subsidiary of Superior Air. The FBO plans to renovate the former Jet Center property as well as add amenities such as catering, concierge services, red-carpet greetings, on-site notary service and video surveillance of ramps and parking lots.

Flying Service NV has signed an agreement with Aviapartner Belgium to perform all third-party ground handling at Antwerp Airport until the end of September 2010, when Aviapartner’s handling license expires. Under the agreement, Flying Service–a FlyingGroup company–expects to handle at least 800 aircraft a year at Antwerp.

Attendees at this year’s Aviation Services and Suppliers’ SuperShow (AS3) were acutely aware that this was their first such get-together since September 11. AS3 is a joint trade show held during the concurrent conventions of the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) and the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA).

Carlsbad, Calif.-based FBO Jet Source has selected Air BP as its primary fuel supplier. Jet Source offers 120,000 sq ft of hangar space, 35,000 sq ft of office space and, for visiting pilots, a state-of-the-art media room, as well as full maintenance, avionics, aircraft sales and charter/management services. Millville Jet Center in New Jersey also chose Air BP as its fuel supplier.

Elliott Aviation’s four FBOs, Millville Jet Center and Sacramento Jet Center’s two FBOs are now branded Air BP fuel sellers. Elliott Aviation, founded in 1936 and family owned since then, has FBOs and maintenance facilities in Moline, Ill.; Minneapolis; Des Moines, Iowa; and Omaha, Neb.

Jet Aviation recently completed negotiations with three major worldwide fuel suppliers to provide discounts for its charter and managed aircraft fleets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Christoph Thurnherr, head of purchasing for Jet Aviation Business Jets in Zurich, Switzerland, said the company now provides discounts at close to 300 locations worldwide, with customer savings of up to 60 percent compared with posted retail fuel prices.

Air BP Aviation Services has gone on record supporting the mission of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) with financial support for CAP’s cadet and youth-development programs. The Civil Air Patrol provides leadership training, technical education, scholarships and career education to almost 27,000 young men and women, ages 12 to 21.

Air BP is offering a new handbook, Introduction to Aviation Fuels Handling, to FBOs and line personnel. The handbook offers new line personnel an overview of the airport-fueling environment, according to author Mike Mooney. The handbook reviews many aspects of the aviation business and cites real-life examples to show
the consequences of errors in the airport environment.

Just over a year after its merger, ChevronTexaco (the entity that resulted when the two oil giants came together after a landmark $45 billion deal) has released some of the details of its newly realigned general aviation fuel business. Representing only a tiny percentage of even its airline-centered fuels trade, the general aviation sliver of the pie is, nevertheless, an important one to the merged companies, or so they say.
