International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1108, the union for Flight Options’ 500 pilots, this week announced that it reached a tentative agreement for a first contract last Thursday with the Cleveland-based fractional provider. The agreement comes some four years after the union came on the property and, if ratified, will end years of sometimes acrimonious negotiations.

Teamsters Local 1108, the union representing some 500 pilots at fractional provider Flight Options, yesterday announced a strike-authorization vote as final sessions of mediated negotiations nears. “Local 1108 is ready to make a fair agreement with Flight Options management,” said Mat Slinghoff, pilot-union president.

After more than four years of contentious negotiation, Pinnacle Airlines has reached terms with the Air Line Pilots Association on a new tentative contract for its 1,282 pilots. Scheduled for a ratification vote this month, the new deal would give Pinnacle’s pilots their first pay raise in five years. ALPA said it would release details after legal review and finalization of the contract.

The long-simmering feud between the FAA and the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (Natca) over wages and working conditions was apparently resolved late last month. Union members will have 45 days to ratify the many issues agreed upon through mediation, but five issues decided by arbitrators, including compensation, are not subject to ratification.

The NTSB has removed the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (Natca) as a party in the investigation of the August 8 fatal midair between a Piper Lance and a tour helicopter over New York's Hudson River.

A six-week strike at Bell Helicopter Textron’s transmission and rotor-blade component plants in Texas ended after union members ratified a revised four-year contract offer on July 22 and returned to work on July 27.

Negotiations are expected to resume tomorrow between Bell Helicopter and the more than 2,400 production and maintenance workers from United Auto Workers Local 218 that went on strike two weeks ago after rejecting a “last, best, and final offer” from the helicopter manufacturer.
