Hawker Beechcraft filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May and is currently in exclusive negotiations with Superior Aviation Beijing, which has placed a stalking-horse bid to buy Hawker Beechcraft for $1.79 billion. However, the Wichita-based aircraft manufacturer will ultimately be sold in a public auction, meaning it is still very much up for grabs.

The FAA initially promised the industry that the AC would be available by Aug. 6, 2001, the date the final regulations were published. New FAR 145.163 is scheduled to go into effect April 6.
New Advisory Circular AC 120-87A updates guidance on the use of child restraint seats (CRS) on aircraft. Recently, the FAA revised its regulations to allow for use of a wider selection of CRS products on commercial and private aircraft.
