After a disagreement about the alternate airport the company had planned for a revenue flight between Osaka Airport, Japan (RJOO) and Shanghai, China (ZSPD), a senior ABX Air captain no longer has his job. Teamsters Local 1224, representing ABX pilots, filed suit July 31 to contest the termination.

The Cargo Airline Association (CAA), representing air cargo carriers in the U.S., has sided with the FAA in a lawsuit brought against the agency by UPS pilots over its flight crew member duty and rest rule, issued December 21.

While DHL is no longer using the airport, ABX Air and other companies will still operate there. The Air Park was the Clinton County AFB until September 1971, when the base was closed.

Deutsche Post DHL announced on January 19 that it has agreed with Ohio’s Clinton County Port Authority (CCPA) to donate DHL’s former Air Hub/Wilmington Airpark to Wilmington, Ohio. The transfer is expected to close before the end of this month. The airport features two runways–one 10,701 feet long and the other 9,000 feet. DHL invested $310 million in the airport before shutting down cargo operations there in 2008.

The airline has awarded a contract to avionics maker Innovative Solutions & Support for flat-panel cockpit display upgrades in nearly 200 airplanes in its fleet that will dramatically alter the flight decks’ look.

Through an agreement with cargo airline ABX Air of Wilmington, Ohio, avionics maker Innovative Solutions & Support announced an upgrade program for replacement of Boeing 767 cockpit screens with flat-panel liquid-crystal displays.
