Embraer recently delivered the first Phenom 300 to India. Customer Kerala-based Joy Jets will operate the light jet alongside its existing Phenom 100. The operator, which is part of the Joyalukkas chain of jewelry stores, has said it intends to add a longer-range midsize aircraft to its fleet next year.
Embraer Executive Jets inaugurated its new service center today at Bertram Luiz Leupolz Airport in Sorocaba, Brazil. The 215,300-sq-ft facility has two hangars, one of which is dedicated to maintenance, repair and overhaul of Embraer business jets. Universal Aviation, the ground support division of Universal Weather & Aviation, was selected by Embraer to run an FBO at the facility and will use the other hangar for based and itinerant business aircraft. Amenities include passenger lounge, Internet access, conference rooms and crew rest area.
Embraer Executive Jets has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Air Works Pvt. Ltd. to provide full maintenance support to Legacy 500 and Legacy 450 customers in India. This agreement comes ahead of the midsize Legacy 500’s entry into service in the first half of this year. Certification of the mid-light Legacy 450 is expected next year. This is the second MoU signed to support the Legacy 500 in India.
Embraer says the slowdown in the Indian economy has done little to stop its strong business aircraft sales in the country. India is the first country from the Asia Pacific region to have a complete portfolio of Embraer aircraft, ranging from the Phenom 100 very light jet to the large-cabin Lineage 1000.
Embraer is endeavoring to boost executive jets sales and support its existing fleet in Asia, and says that the market is developing well despite widespread red tape that impedes business aviation in the region. On the static display here at the Singapore Airshow, the very large-cabin Lineage 1000E–Embraer’s largest business jet–is making its Asian debut.
Embraer Executive Jets and ABS Jets will jointly provide maintenance services for Embraer Executive Jets during the Olympic Winter Games this month in Sochi, Russia. A special maintenance team will be on standby to provide immediate technical support and, if needed, ABS Jets can fly in parts from its depots in Prague or Moscow. In addition to Sochi International Airport, the services can also be provided at nearby Krasnodar and Anapa Airports. Maintenance personnel will be speaking English, Russian and the local Ossian language.

Dvorak has always had a keen interest in both aviation and finance, and his new job will enable him to leverage his expertise in both areas.
Embraer has appointed Jet Aviation Basel as a fully authorized service center for the Legacy 600 and 650, allowing it to provide line and base maintenance for the super midsized business jets.
“We can now provide any kind of maintenance, exterior painting and IFE upgrades, as well as warranty and AOG support, to the growing Embraer customer base in EMEA,” said Johannes Turzer, v-p and general manager of the maintenance center at Jet Aviation Basel.
Embraer Executive Jets’ Legacy 650 recently received type certification from Indonesia’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, paving the way for customer Premiair to put the aircraft into service. With the approval, all in-production Embraer Executive Jets are now certified in this country. When Premiair takes delivery of two Legacy 650s it has on order, the Indonesian charter operator will have eight Embraer jets in its fleet.
Embraer has named Taikoo (Shandong) Aircraft Engineering (Staeco) of Ji’nan, China, its authorized service center in China. Staeco will provide line and heavy maintenance for E-Jets in accordance with China Civil Aviation Regulation Part 145 standards.
The Chinese regional aviation market will be responsible for 15 percent of worldwide deliveries of 61- to 120-seat jets in the next 20 years. Embraer forecasts a demand in China for 1,005 new jets up to 2031 in this category (455 jets in the 61- to 90-seat segment and 550 jets in the 91- to 120-seat segment).
