According to charter broker Air Partner, Conklin & de Decker released research during EBACE 2013 indicating that the use of charter jet cards is on the rise in Europe. Inflight Executive Jet Centre at Stansted Airport in London has appointed Steve Grimes as its new managing director. Grimes is assigned the mission of expanding business for Inflight’s FBO and its maintenance shop.

“I am looking forward to growing the business in both areas,” said Grimes, “which could mean expanding with new locations for both operations and maintenance.” Inflight also said its growth strategy includes expanding into aircraft completions and interior refurbishment.

Rizon Jet Gets FAA Part 129 Approval

Doha, Qatar-based charter operator Rizon Jet has announced that it has received FAA Part 129 certification for foreign air carriers, thus permitting unrestricted commercial operations into and within the U.S. Rizon Jet CEO Hassan Al-Mousawi noted that applying for the certification was a response to “an increasing customer demand for transatlantic flights.” Rizon Jet has additional operating bases in the Middle East and the UK.

JetNet iQ Analyst Bullish on Business Aviation in Europe

JetNet iQ director Rolland Vincent is “very optimistic” about the outlook for business aviation in Europe as well as the rest of the world, he said yesterday at EBACE. Over the next 10 years, the company is calling for deliveries of 9,317 business jets worth $257 billion. In 2022, the projected business jet fleet would thus reach 25,937, a 36-percent increase from the 19,016 jets flying today.

Daher-Socata Puts New Twin NTX Project on Hold

Daher-Socata’s NTX project, a new twin the company has been considering since 2008, “is in standby mode,” airplane division senior v-p Nicolas Chabbert told AIN this week at EBACE.

AIN understands that Daher-Socata has considered both a twin turboprop and a twinjet under the NTX project banner. Without referring specifically to one option or the other, Chabbert said Daher-Socata is not excluding any possibility. However, the company has already ruled out resurrecting the Grob SPn program after some in-depth evaluations, including flight tests of the SPn prototype.

EBACE 2013 Buzzing with Activity

Organizers NBAA and EBAA declared EBACE 2013, which concluded today in Geneva, a success, with12,353 attendees walking through the doors of the three-day business aviation show. There were 460 exhibitors showing their wares and services, which is the third-highest exhibitor count ever. Additionally, 52 aircraft appeared on the largest static display in EBACE history by square footage.

Fifth HondaJet Joins Flight-test Program

“The HondaJet program is steadily progressing toward certification and first delivery,” Honda Aircraft president and CEO Michimasa Fujino said this week at EBACE. As previously reported, FAA type certification of the light jet has been delayed by a year to late next year, primarily due to delays in certifying its GE Honda Aero HF120 engines. EASA certification is scheduled to follow in mid-2015.
