Gal Aerospace has completed the acquisition of AeroQuest of Lawrenceville, Ga. AeroQuest provides aircraft interior components manufacturing and specializes in turnkey products for business and commercial aircraft, including showers, countertops, window shades, cabinetry and cabin peripheral panels. The company offers both build-to-print and design-to-build services.

The private aircraft financing market in China has matured over the past several years with many sources of funding available for those wishing to purchase airplanes according to the experts here at ABACE. “I don’t think there is any lack of financing alternatives available,” said Jeffrey Lowe, general manager of aircraft ownership consultancy Asian Sky Group. “Pretty much all the international lenders are here and all the Chinese lender banks are involved in business aviation as well. A lot of them have set up leasing arms, so they are all diving in head first.”

Banyan Air Service, based at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport in Florida, recently completed installing a dual Garmin 600 glass cockpit upgrade on a Pilatus PC-12. The project included a Garmin GTN-750, GTN-650, GMA-350 and dual GTX-330 transponders. The installations were performed using both Garmin and Pilatus STCs.

To supplement its service and support presence in the Asia-Pacific region, Gulfstream opened a customer support contact center at its Product Support Asia headquarters in Tung Chung near Hong Kong International Airport. The center will initially focus on over-the-counter sales and warranty support. Technical operations personnel, to include avionics/electrical and technical/mechanical systems specialists for all Gulfstream models, will be added later this year.

The OEM has maintenance technicians at the Gulfstream Beijing service center to perform the work.

Lufthansa Technik will establish a new aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in Puerto Rico for servicing short-haul and medium-haul aircraft. Agreements have now been signed with the government of Puerto Rico and the responsible port authority.

Lufthansa Technik plans to break ground on the new facility within the next three months.

Miami, Florida-based online flight operations system provider SchedAero (Avinode, Booth H430) announced here at ABACE 2014 it has received recognition from the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as an electronic record keeping system for Flight and Duty Times.

DGCA requirements mandate that operators have a secure and transparent computerized system with an online portal that the agency can use to monitor their operations. SchedAero is a subsidiary of aviation data and charter marketplace portal provider Avinode.

Associated Air Center (AAC) has received STC approval for Boeing 737 (-300 through -900ER) Wi-Fi solutions for the Satcom Direct Router (SDR). The dual-band unit can manage multiple systems such as Swift64, SwiftBroadband, Ku band, Ka band and X band both airborne and on the ground. The SDR also has a 3G cellular service feature for use on the ground. The system can be integrated with existing platforms and systems manufactured by Cobham, Thrane & Thrane, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins.
