Aviation is a bug that bites early and with lasting effect. I started, like so many, building model airplanes at the age of about 12. As a photojournalist in the Navy for 20 years, I found amazing opportunities to indulge my love of flight and took advantage of every one of them, from fighters to helicopters. And as a photojournalist, I was afforded a chance to go places and see things I never dreamed possible. When I retired in 1987 I took advantage of the GI Bill to finish college with my bachelor’s of science in photojournalism from Syracuse University. At Aviation International News, I found the perfect vehicle for the things I like best: writing, flying and traveling. Of all the things in the world, the best is to be doing something you are good at and that you love doing. It doesn’t get better.
