Piper Seeks More Asia Pacific Training Sales

Piper Aircraft (Booth V63) head of global sales and business development Drew McEwen is leading the Vero Beach, Florida-based company’s delegation here at the Singapore Airshow. The Brunei government-owned aircraft manufacturer also comes to the Singapore show fresh under new management–until a few months ago Imprimis was directing the company; Brunei, which bought Piper in 2009, now holds the full reins.

Joining McEwen from Piper’s Brunei sales offices is director of global fleet sales Chuck Glass, director of Asia Pacific sales Dana Cox and Asia general manager Alex Omar. This group has achieved recent gains in selling aircraft into the Asia Pacific area and is anticipating more opportunities with the diverse economies of the region.

“We have seen the Piper fleet grow incrementally in the Pacific Rim just since the Singapore Airshow in 2010, and this is exemplified by our recent sales to a number of pilot training providers in the region,” McEwen said. “One in six new airplanes we build is being purchased by Pacific Rim countries and we would like to see these sales grow even more. That is the primary reason we are taking this opportunity to focus our sales presence in this important region at the Singapore Airshow.”

Since Singapore 2010, Piper has sealed more than 50 training sales in the Pacific Rim. This includes:

• 10 Seminole piston twins for the Civil Aviation Flight University of China;

• 18 Warrior piston singles for Sekolah Tinggi Penerbang Indonesia, the government flight school at Budiarto Airport in Curug;

• eight Warrior IIIs and two Seminoles for Australian Airline Pilot Academy;

• two Seminoles for Oxford Aviation Academy of Moorabbin, Australia;

• 10 Warrior IIIs and two Seminoles for Asia Pacific Flight Training of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and

• two Seminoles for Hanseo University in South Korea’s Chungchung Namdo province.

Sales training is the biggest need of every sales person, because sales is a mind game. One should have to know the GK of mind sciences and psychology.
