Bombardier, FlightSafety International and Nantong Tongzhou Bay Aviation have signed a joint letter of intent to establish a training center for Q400 NextGen turboprop pilots, in preparation for the launch of Sutong Airlines in 2015. Bombardier will support planning of aircraft training, while FlightSafety will supply and operate a full flight simulator. Nantong Tongzhou Bay Aviation will support the set-up of the facility in China’s Jiangsu province, the airframer said here at the show.

CAE announced yesterday that it will start accepting Avcard, an aviation charge card from World Fuel Services, as a form of payment at its business aviation training centers in Dallas and New York. Avcard acceptance allows CAE customers to earn FlyBuys Rewards when they pay for training with the card. CAE plans eventually to expand this payment option to its other business aircraft training facilities, including those in Amsterdam, São Paulo, Shanghai, Dubai, London and Phoenix. The company offers training on more than 80 business aircraft platforms.

Constructed from advanced composites with carbon fiber reinforcement, the door trainer was built by Spatial Composite Solutions (Stand 2612) at its factory in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. It was manufactured under license from Airbus.

CAE said last week it had received Level D qualification of the world’s first simulator for the Boeing 747-8 freighter, a full-flight simulator (FFS) sold to Luxembourg-based Cargolux Airlines International. Luxembourg’s national aviation authority awarded the simulator EASA Level D qualification. CAE also announced November 12 that it had received Level D qualifications from the FAA for its first two Boeing 787 FFSs for undisclosed North American customers.
International Wings Group (IWG), the privately owned, Jordan-based aviation concern, has won the management contract for Iraq Gate, the first private jet company with an air operator’s certificate (AOC) in Iraq. It said its unit, Arab Wings (Stand 2418), the Jordanian charter unit of IWG, won the contract in June.
Garmin unveiled interactive, web-based pilot training for the G5000 integrated flight deck today. The self-paced lessons help pilots streamline their initial flight training with the G5000 and offer a convenient online course for follow-on training.
According to Garmin, the G5000 “eLearning” program, available as a 180-day subscription, is interactive and helps customers take advantage of all the features of the integrated flight deck. The course has three learning modes: demonstration, guided interaction and solo.
