Custom Control Concepts has been selected by L-3 Platform Integration in Waco, Texas, to provide high-definition entertainment and cabin management systems in a head-of-state 747-8 project.

The Kent, Wash. supplier is expected to design and manufacture almost all of the highly customized components. The entire system when complete will be laid out and bench tested before delivery. The contract marks the latest collaboration between L-3 and CCC in a series of bizliner interior outfitting jobs.

ATR 72

American Eagle last month confirmed plans to replace all of its ATR 72 turboprops operating from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport with Embraer ERJ 135s, 140s and 145s. As a result, 14 markets throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas gained all-jet service beginning January 31.

L-3 Platform Integration has selected PAC Seating Systems of Palm City, Fla., to provide a range of 16-g seats, divan frames, slouching seats and full-flat sleeper seats as part of a 747-8 head-of-state completion project by the Waco, Texas completion center.

ConversionAir R134a

Steinbach & Associates, developer of STCs for R-134a conversions, is at Booth No. N713 showing how its R134a air-conditioning system compressor can replace old R12 Freon coolant compressors. Scott Steinbach, president of the Waco, Texas company, told AIN that since the R12 was phased out of production, a new compressor and accessory components are necessary to use R134a to full advantage.

Living Wall

The idea of a “living wall” in a business jet cabin was something designer Edese Doret says he had been thinking about for about a year. After running the idea by a designated engineering representative (DER) and several engineers, he suggested it to a client, and he said, “and he loved it.” So New York-based Edese Doret Industrial Design was off and running. The end result is four Living Walls to be built into a privately owned Boeing 787-9–one wall each in the stateroom, the passageway, the lavatory and the lounge.
