Bombardier announced the retirement of Bombardier Aerospace president and COO Guy Hachey yesterday as part of a wider restructuring that will see 1,800 layoffs “in the coming months.” Hachey leaves the company after six years as COO.

The second quarter of 2014 has been good to ST Aerospace, which booked $520 million worth of contracts during the quarter.

ST Aerospace (Chalet B18/19) booked a five-year agreement with a regional airline in the U.S. for heavy maintenance on 42 Embraer E-170 and E-175 jets. The maintenance will be done at ST Aerospace’s San Antonio, Texas facility.

In Guangzhou, ST Aerospace received FAA, EASA and Chinese CAAC Part 145 approval. This makes it possible for the company to service aircraft registered under those authorities’ frameworks.

In view of its success in nurturing a thriving automobile industry–the ninth largest in the world–and as Asia edges toward becoming the world’s largest growth market for aviation, Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) is considering building an aerospace industry starting with Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers servicing global OEM supply chains.

AAT Aircraft Maintenance has received a repair station certificate from Mexico’s Director General of Civil Aeronautics. AAT Aircraft Maintenance offers routine and heavy inspections, avionics support, interior refurbishment and structural repair and fabrication. Additionally, the Dallas-based company provides engine maintenance services, component repairs and overhauls, landing gear overhauls, composite repair and fabrication and related services.

Markus Bucher, previously COO of Pilatus Aircraft, has been named CEO and chairman of the Swiss airframer’s executive board, effective January 1. He succeeds Oscar Schwenk, who will remain chairman of the board of directors.

Fractional aircraft provider Flexjet has named Deanna White as president. Previously she was Bombardier subsidiary’s v-p of finance and administration.

Pattonair has opened a European Hub in Derby, UK, where the Pattonair Group head office is located. It will serve as a central hub for all of the company’s European operations. Pattonair’s supply chain services include kitting, line feed, distribution, aftermarket and MRO, consultancy, reverse logistics, warehouse management and supplier management. Customers include large global aerospace OEMs and Tier 1, 2 and 3 manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce, Goodrich Actuation Systems and Parker Aerospace.
