Jets, the MRO owned by the 328 Group, promoted Edward Benyon to sales and commercial manager for its Bournemouth and new London Biggin Hill facilities. UK airports group BAA has reluctantly abandoned any further legal challenges to the compulsory sale of London Stansted Airport mandated by anti-trust authorities. It is now open to offers for what is the UK’s fourth busiest airport, and low-cost carrier Ryanair has emerged as a leading figure among potential bidders. Located right next to the venue, London City will be in high demand, and airports such as Southend, Luton and Biggin Hill also are likely to prove popular with business/private aircraft operators and owners.
Swift lobbying work by the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA) and its members appears to have averted the threat of a new limit on the number of non-airline movements at London Stansted Airport. Following discussions with the UK’s Department for Transport (DfT), it has been confirmed that the 10,000-movement limit will apply only once a new overall threshold of 264,000 annual movements has been reached.
