The Hyundai Motor Co. has selected Iacobucci HF to provide seating for its new Boeing BBJ, just a few months after Iacobucci launched its new VIP seat business. With the support of Avjet, Comlux America will outfit the BBJ, the second of the type in Iacobucci’s orderbook. Boeing will deliver the bizliner to Comlux in the second quarter of next year and it should be completed within the year.

Boeing Business Jets president Steve Taylor chose a unique venue for yesterday’s BBJ press briefing: Comlux’s head-of-state-outfitted BBJ 767-200, which is here at the MEBA show static display on a break from its normally busy charter schedule. The Comlux BBJ 767, which is based in Bahrain, can fly up to 6,400 nm with a full load of 60 passengers and 10 tons of freight.

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has introduced a new chrome-free pre-treatment to simplify the aircraft maintenance process.

Under the brand name Metaflex SP 1050, the pre-treatments can be applied over several metals and composites. According to the European company’s Waukegan, Ill. center, Metaflex SP 1050 brings time- and cost-saving benefits to the paint shop, and reduces VOC emissions by as much as 75 percent.

Another new product is the Alumigrip base coat and Alumigrip clear coat technology, which AkzoNobel claims will reduce cycle time by up to 40 percent.

Blue Sky Network recently launched its new SkyRouter iOS and Android mobile applications that can provide real-time aircraft fleet tracking on the go. SkyRouter is a cloud-based solution that can track a company’s aircraft that are equipped with Blue Sky Network’s Iridium tracking and communication services. Features of the New SkyRouter mobile apps include GPS location, fleet asset lists, breadcrumb mapping, active asset indication, automated event reports and drill-down on asset events.

Today at Airshow China 2012, Hainan Airlines announced that it selected GE Aviation GEnx-1B engines to power two additional Boeing 787s. This brings Hainan Airlines’ GEnx-powered Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet to 10 aircraft.

PPG Aerospace won a contract to supply cockpit windows for the new Eclipse 550, as well as improved-design windshield spares and side-cockpit window spares to Eclipse Aerospace for the existing Eclipse 500 fleet. The lighter-weight glass-faced acrylic windshields for both aircraft will be heated, meet requirements to resist strike by a two-pound bird at 200 knots and have an anti-static coating. The side-cockpit windows will be acrylic. PPG will start cockpit window deliveries to Eclipse in the middle of next year to coincide with deliveries of the first Eclipse 550s.

Jet Aviation St. Louis is slated to receive its first BBJ in April for scheduled maintenance and interior upgrades. The project includes the first installation of Boeing’s enhanced vision system service bulletins for an aircraft in private use. The BBJ will undergo its 12-year inspection and landing-gear overhaul. Additionally, some interior surfaces of the aircraft will be refinished and some headliner panels will be recovered.

IS&S will supply the primary flight and multifunction displays the integrated, flight management system and electronic flight bag system for the Eclipse 550 and the new IS&S standby display for the Eclipse 500.

Eclipse Aerospace took an important and large step toward resuming new production of its light twinjet yesterday. The company placed a production order Innovative Solutions & Support (Booth No. 4331) for the initial 50 of 300 shipsets ordered of the Eclipse 550 Avio integrated flight management system (IFMS), which includes dual FMS, autothrottles, synthetic vision, integrated Taws and enhanced vision system (EVS). The IS&S suite also features electronic circuit breakers, radios, transponders and radar.
