Eclipse Aerospace has added General Enterprises as its second European Gold Service Center, expanding its international service center network for Eclipse 500 and Eclipse 550 very light twinjets. General Enterprises will provide maintenance, inspections, parts and warranty support, as well as AOG service. Based at Groningen Airport Eelde in Eelde, The Netherlands, General Enterprises has been a service center for single- and twin-engine piston aircraft since 1993, and has been servicing Eclipse jets since 2011.

Rockwell Collins’s Venue cabin management and HD entertainment system was selected by Sabena Technics for installation aboard a Boeing BBJ. The updated BBJ cabin will feature HD monitors and digital audio throughout the aircraft for watching Blu-ray disc movies and other high-resolution content, such as real-time flight information from Rockwell Collins’s Airshow 3-D moving map. These features are built upon a fiber-optic backbone that ensures maximum system availability and enough bandwidth to integrate the latest consumer technologies.

Textron has assembled a new flight simulator manufacturing and training company–TRU Simulation + Training–that its leaders believe will offer strong competition to entrenched players FlightSafety International and CAE.

Textron Aviation’s TRU Simulation+Training has announced an agreement with sister company Bell Helicopter to develop the first level-D, full flight simulator for the Bell 525 Relentless medium helicopter.

TRU will take care of all the steps from design to installation at Bell’s Fort Worth, Texas headquarters. The simulator will be FAA- and EASA-certified and is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2016.

Jeppesen has released its FliteDeck Pro electronic flight bag (EFB) software for Microsoft Window 8 tablets, and Delta Air Lines is implementing FliteDeck Pro for 11,000 pilots on Microsoft Surface 2 tablets. FliteDeck Pro for Windows 8 offers worldwide navigation charts, including data-driven en route information and terminal charts, all of which are updated with “changes-only” content to facilitate faster updates. Unlike the current version of the iPad, the Surface tablet allows users to run two applications in split screens.

FltPlan’s free Go mobile device app is now available for Android devices. The app is designed to work with a user’s existing free FltPlan account, but the app delivers most of the website’s functionality and additional features such as geo-referenced approach and taxi charts and a moving map.

Zodiac Aerospace finalized the acquisition of Denton, Texas-based BBJ completions center and bizliner cabin interior component manufacturer Greenpoint Technologies. Greenpoint employs 450 people and has annual revenues of approximately $150 million. Zodiac said the acquisition will further enhance its competencies in completing cabin interiors for large private jets, and that it “will support Greenpoint’s development and bring its skills in cabin certification and its know-how in the design and manufacturing of interiors components.”

Wheels Up displayed its first Cessna-refurbished Citation XLS during a preview event yesterday at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y. The company announced in December that it would add refurbished Citation Sovereigns and Excel/XLSs to its closed membership fleet of King Air 350is. The recently delivered XLS is one of 10 it will take this year. By year-end, Wheels Up expects to have 27 King Air 350is, 10 Citation Excel/XLSs and five VistaJet Global 5000s.
