The new Citation Sovereign+ received EASA certification, Cessna announced today. The upgraded jet has enhanced climb performance and range, as well as Garmin G5000 avionics. Cessna recently completed a demonstration tour of the Sovereign+ in Europe, where it made its debut last month at EBACE 2014 in Switzerland. “We have a number of European customers ready to take delivery of their aircraft, and with EASA certification we can now get the Sovereign+ into the marketplace,” said Textron Aviation vice president for jets Chris Hearne.

Bell Helicopter executives told AIN that the company will be pursuing initial type certification of its new 505 Jet Ranger X light single from Transport Canada and will conduct prototype assembly and flight-testing of the aircraft from its plant in Mirabel, Quebec. First flight is expected later this year.

Embraer Executive Jets celebrated the delivery of the 500th Phenom yesterday, just 5.5 years after the first Phenom 100 entered service and 4.5 years after Phenom 300 deliveries began. The milestone aircraft, a Phenom 300, was delivered to Prime Fraction Club, a fractional provider in Brazil that operates three other Phenoms, as well as helicopters, boats and sports cars.

Preliminary Report: Jet Overruns Florida Runway

Cessna Citation CJ3 525, Spruce Creek, Fla., April 27, 2014–Unable to stop on the 4,000-foot Runway 23 at Florida’s Spruce Creek airport, a Cessna CJ3 ran off the hard surface and came to rest partially submerged in a pond off the departure end of the runway. The aircraft remained intact after the accident. None of the three people aboard was injured in the accident.

After moving the partially built components of the all-composite, single-engine Privateer amphibian to Comp Air Aviation in Titusville, Fla. for final assembly, Comp Air technicians have put together major portions of the airframe. In the past three months, the Comp Air team has installed the wings and center section on the fuselage, then attached that assembly to the floats. “The horizontal stabilizer and elevator are complete and ready for control system integration,” according to Comp Air. First flight of the 714-hp Walter 601-powered amphibian is planned in the fourth quarter.
