The aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) continues to grow and 2013 showed a “remarkable” 12-percent increase in the number of visitors as a total of 8,906 attendees passed through the doors during the three-day event, (April 9-11) in Hamburg, Germany. More than 500 exhibitors representing 26 countries covered a record 193,750 sq ft in Hamburg’s Messe Center exhibit halls, roughly 21,000 sq ft more than last year.

Marching to the theme of the Star Wars movies, speakers for the 2013 opening session of ABACE found their places on the broad stage in the Shanghai Hawker Pacific hangar at Hongqiao International Airport and the event began.

Aerospace Technologies Group (ATG) is taking the art of aircraft window shades to a new level. The Boca Raton, Fla.-based company (Booth No. 995) is promoting its line of window shade systems for business aircraft. The line includes the electromechanical Powertech and Powertech 2 dual-pleated shade-and-rail systems and the latest product known as Panacea, which adds fourth-generation electrochromic technology.
Business aviation is growing fast in Brazil, and the Associação Brasileira de Aviação (ABAG) believes its Latin American Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (LABACE) this past August in São Paulo is ample proof.
Eurocopter launched its new EC175 helicopter four years ago at the Heli-Expo show in Houston, Texas, showing a fuselage mockup of the new helicopter. Last month, AIN editor-in-chief Randy Padfield had the opportunity to fly one of the EC175 prototypes at Eurocopter’s main facility on Marseille-Provence Airport in France. This is his report of that flight.
There hasn’t been a good year for business aviation since 2008, and despite hopes of an industry recovery, it appears 2012 won’t be the next one.
