OnAir is working on an STC that will make the Dassault Falcon 7X the first purpose-built business jet to receive its onboard cellphone system. So far, the system had been installed only in bizliners. OnAir allows passengers to make and receive calls on their personal cellphones during flight.

Jet Aviation Abu Dhabi appointed Peter Lewis as senior manager of its new operations at Al Bateen Executive Airport. The 30-year business aviation veteran brings experience in maintenance, project management and quality assurance to the new position. Meanwhile, the FBO plans to carry out maintenance using a 12,917-sq-ft hangar while its dedicated 25,833-sq-ft hangar is refurbished.
Nextant Aerospace appointed business aircraft sales group Action Aviation as the exclusive sales agent for the Nextant 400XT in the Middle East, India and Europe. Action Aviation has offices in Dubai, the UK and Bangalore, India.
Robinson delivered its 10,000th helicopter last Friday. The milestone comes less than four years after the company delivered its 8,000th helicopter and 32 years after the first Robinson, a two-seat R22, was certified. Number 10,000–a four-seat R44 Raven II–was delivered to Audi Helicopters, one of two Robinson dealers in Brazil. Audi has been affiliated with Robinson for 25 years.
HyperMach Aerospace’s planned 20-seat supersonic business jet (SSBJ), dubbed the SonicStar, will be able to fly at Mach 4.0, the company said Friday in Dubai. This is faster than the Mach 3.6 top speed announced when the proposed V-tailed aircraft was first revealed in June at the Paris Air Show. At Mach 4, the SonicStar would be able to fly from New York to Dubai in just 2 hours 20 minutes.
UAE-based Quest Helicopters, a new entrant in the rotorcraft industry, launched a tandem-rotor, light-twin helicopter–the AVQ–at the Dubai Air Show on Sunday.
The Obama Administration has notified NBAA that it will continue to have a seat on the Transportation Security Administration’s Aviation Security Advisory Committee (Asac), along with 24 other industry stakeholder groups. TSA Administrator John Pistole recently noted the “vital role” the Asac plays in balancing real-world security concerns with workable implementation of policy proposals.
