The ranks of the Wyvern Wingmen are set to increase with 26 new and returning charter operators taking safety audits during the months of September and October. It is now 20 years since the Trenton, N.J.-based safety consultancy established the Wyvern Standard and, thankfully, not one of the operators approved under this has suffered a fatal accident in this time.

Dassault Falcon is taking advantage of the current business jet production lull to implement more efficient production procedures, unveil new modularized interiors, continue work on its SMS new jet program and perhaps forge alliances with other OEMs as a way to expand its market footprint into new aircraft categories. Like most other business jet OEMs, the delivery numbers for Dassault year-to-date have been less than robust. Measured in dollars for the first six months of 2011 they were down 44 percent from the same period in 2010, representing an aggregate value of $846.5 million this year versus $1.854 billion a year ago. The scorecard: 19 aircraft delivered through June versus 45 for the first six months of 2010. On a positive note, for the first half of the year the company booked 22 net new (minus cancellation) Falcon orders.
Gulfstream Aerospace is showing its newly announced “Elite” interiors for the G550 and G450 here at NBAA 2011. The extra-cost package incorporates much of the look, feel and functionality of the clean-lines interior the company developed for its new flagship G650 ultra-long-range business jet.

Bell Helicopter announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas that it has received FAA certification for its new $2.865-million, single-engine 407GX, equipped with Garmin G1000H glass panel avionics. Bell announced the helicopter at Heli-Expo in February and received Transport Canada certification earlier this year.
