Cessna 414, Port Jefferson, N.Y., May 26, 2003–At 2:28 p.m. EDT Cessna 414 N1234 was substantially damaged during a forced landing into Long Island Sound approximately six miles north of Port Jefferson, N.Y. The commercial pilot/ owner was not injured. N1234 was on an IFR flight plan and was flying in IMC.

Piper PA-31P, Woodruff, Wis., May 25, 2003–At 5:54 p.m. CDT a Piper P Navajo N36DR, piloted by an ATP-rated pilot, crashed into trees immediately after takeoff from 5,150-foot Runway 36 at Lakeland Airport near Woodruff, Wis. The Part 91 flight was operating in VMC on an IFR flight plan for DuPage Airport, West Chicago, Ill. All four occupants were killed.
Robinson R44, Brazos Block 532, Gulf of Mexico, May 29, 2003–Robinson N7188K crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, killing Dudley Tarlton, the sole- occupant ATP-rated pilot. The accident occurred near Brazos Block 532 at approximately 4 a.m. CDT. The helicopter was registered to and operated by Tarlton Helicopters of Houston.
GULFSTREAM COMMANDER 695, OGAWA VILLAGE, JAPAN, MARCH 24, 2003–At approximately 10:50 a.m. local time Gulfstream Commander JA8604 crashed near Ogawa Village, Ibaragi Prefecture, Japan. The pilot and a second person on board were killed and the aircraft, which was being operated by Asia Air Survey, was destroyed.
Beech King Air 200C, Coffs Harbour Aerodrome, New South Wales, Australia, May 15, 2003–At 10:50 a.m. UTC, King Air VH-AMR’s left main landing gear separated after hitting the ocean during an instrument approach to Coffs Harbour Aerodrome in New South Wales. Royal Flying Doctor Service of Victoria, Australia, was operating the airplane under the provisions of Australian civil aviation regulations.
Learjet 45, Milan, Italy, June 1, 2003–Learjet 45 I-ERJC, owned and operated by Eurojet Italia, crashed into a warehouse near a road on the outskirts of Milan after hitting birds and trying to return to land. The aircraft had just departed from Milano-Linate Airport (LIN) destined for Genoa-Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA), Italy. Both pilots, the only occupants of the aircraft, were killed.
Beech King Air 300, Houston, Texas, May 18, 2003–At 9:30 a.m. CDT King Air N2SM was substantially damaged during a positioning flight when it overran Runway 33 at West Houston Airport, Texas. The sole-occupant ATP-rated pilot received minor injuries. N2SM was registered to OSO-RIO LLC of Houston. The aircraft departed William P. Hobby Airport 30 minutes before the accident, with Las Vegas as its final destination.
Virginia Aviation Wright Model B, Midland, Va., May 19, 2003–At 8:20 p.m. EDT an airline transport pilot of the homebuilt Wright Model B (N1911K), was seriously injured and the aircraft substantially damaged when it struck trees while maneuvering at Horse Feathers Airport, Midland, Va. The accident occurred in VMC.
AEROSPATIALE SA341G, ALPINE, TEXAS, MARCH 6, 2003–At 11:15 a.m. CST Gazelle N16KH was substantially damaged when it crashed during takeoff from a hilltop near Alpine. The helicopter was registered to and operated by Bear Helicopters of El Paso, Texas. The ATP-rated pilot and his three passengers received only minor injuries.
EUROCOPTER AS 350B2, VENICE, LA., MARCH 6, 2003–At 7:20 a.m. CST Eurocopter N945PT was substantially damaged when it collided with water while turning to reverse direction after encountering IMC near Venice. The helicopter was registered to Banc One Leasing Corp. of Columbus, Ohio, and operated by Taylor Energy of New Orleans. The commercial-rated pilot and four passengers were uninjured.
