Emteq (Booth No. 3051) has a unique way of seeing things. This time around it’s the company’s new night-vision imaging system (NVIS), upgraded with LED technology.
According to the New Berlin, Wis.-based company, NVIS is designed to provide EMS, law enforcement and search-and-rescue helicopters with more capable cabin/cockpit systems. It is now applicable to dual-mode dome lights, dual-mode wash lighting and flexible strip lighting.

Avionics manufacturer and integrator Thales and helicopter OEM Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. are discussing plans to incorporate a synthetic-vision system (SVS) into the Thales TopDeck avionics suite in Sikorsky’s new S-76D, but whether it will be available by the aircraft’s expected FAA certification date in 2008 is still up in the air.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has taken delivery of a new AS 350B3 from Eurocopter Canada. It is the seventh to join the Canadian law enforcement force’s fleet of 38 rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft. The RCMP has also exercised its option for an eighth AS 350B3. Both will go into service in western Canada–one with K Division

AgustaWestland has seen sales of its helicopters rise in India since its first delivery of an A109 to the government of Rajasthan two years ago. According to the manufacturer, seven helicopters were delivered to the growing Indian market last year, to be followed by at least another four this year. Company forecasts call for AgustaWestland to deliver at least another dozen helicopters of various types to India during 2008 and 2009.

Aviall and Rolls-Royce have renewed their distribution contract for Rolls-Royce 250 engine parts. The original contract was due to expire Dec. 31, 2009, but the two companies recently extended the contract to 2019. Under the agreement, Aviall, a Boeing subsidiary, continues as exclusive distributor for Rolls-Royce 250 parts.

AgustaWestland and Eurocopter have confirmed “their joint commitment to the NH90 program,” the two companies announced here at Heli-Expo’07. They will ensure that commitment is reaffirmed during meetings planned during the next few weeks between the NATO Helicopter Management Agency and government representatives. The NH90 backlog stands at 445 firm and 100 options ordered by 18 armed forces in 14 countries.
