Switlik Parachute won a contract to provide its U-Zip-It aircrew dry suit to the U.S. Coast Guard. The dry suit, which can be viewed at Switlik’s booth (No. 722), features a low-slung zipper that makes the suit easier to slip on. To help aviators move more freely, the suit includes articulating elbow and knee patches.

First-time Heli-Expo exhibitor SRT Helicopters (Booth No. 454) has brought nearly a dozen rescue professionals to the show to discuss real-world training topics–including total resource management, hoist operations, night-vision goggles (NVG), “blue water” operations and fast roping–for helicopter operators of all types.
Pratt & Whitney Canada has won the contract to power Eurocopter’s EC 175, a new 6.7-metric-ton helicopter that will fill the gap between the EC 155 Dauphin and EC 255 Super Puma. The PT6C-67E turbine engine selected for the helicopter will be the first dual-channel Fadec-controlled PT6 from Pratt & Whitney Canada, noted company president Alain Bellemare.
Boeing and AgustaWestland (Booth No. 529) have signed a memorandum of understanding for joint work on the next-generation Chinook for the Italian Army. The deal could lead to similar joint opportunities in the future.

One of two Fairfax County (Va.) Police Department Bell 407s modified by Paradigm Aerospace is on display at the L-3 Communications booth (No. 2847). Chief pilot Paul Schaaf and pilot Mike Mountjoy flew the 407 from Fairfax to Heli-Expo on Saturday, which gave them an opportunity to test all the equipment installed by Paradigm.
Former HAI president Roy Resavage died last month after a long illness. He was 62. Resavage spent seven years at the helm of HAI, where he led the association through difficult financial times. He is credited with improving operational efficiency and the financial health of the association, as well as increasing attendance at Heli-Expo.
Robinson Helicopters of Torrance, Calif., arrived at Heli-Expo armed with orders and prepared to sell even more of its piston-powered helicopters. The question on everybody’s mind, though, is whether CEO Frank Robinson will finallly launch the R66 this year.
