AgustaWestland has begun delivering a tailored version of the AW109S Grand to Swiss air rescue organization Rega. The Da Vinci, the result of a set of specifications issued by Rega to replace its A109 K2s, is thus not offered to other customers.

American Eurocopter points to a highly customized AStar AS350B3 as a prime example of the capabilities of its Grand Prairie, Texas completion center. This AStar was assembled at American Eurocopter’s Columbus, Miss. plant before being flown to Grand Prairie.
A preview of what future AgustaWestland helicopter cockpits will look like was seen in the AW149 mockup exhibited at the Paris Airshow last June. The new cockpit approach promises to reduce costs, both in the development phase and in the life cycles of aircraft. The higher degree of cockpit commonality among AgustaWestland models promises to save money on pilot training and enhance fleet flexibility.
The Eurocopter EC175 medium twin’s first prototype (PT1) is now undergoing flight tests from its base at the manufacturer’s headquarters in Marignane, France. First flight took place on December 4.
Tonight at its Salute to Excellence banquet and awards ceremony, now in its 49th year, HAI honors individuals and organizations in the international helicopter community for outstanding achievement. The association announced the winners of this year’s awards in December. The festivities start at 8 p.m. at Hilton Americas-Houston.
