Eurocopter released details late in April about the development of the seven-metric-ton-class EC175 twin, confirming plans for type certification this year but clarifying that a complementary certification for the offshore oil-and-gas configuration is expected by the middle of next year. This configuration has features such as emergency flotation gear, life rafts, radio navigation system and dual FMS, Tcas II and air conditioning.

Aircraft maintenance provider U.S. Aviation has expanded its services at Denton Municipal Airport (DTO) with the opening of a new FBO in April. The facility, which is open seven days a week from 5:30 a.m.

Officials in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, are considering selling the naming rights to Pittsburgh International Airport in a possible effort to raise money for the county-owned airport. According to the FAA, as the sponsoring organization the county is permitted to do so, but renaming the airport will require the additional approval of the independent Allegheny County Airport Authority, which has operated the facility since 1999.

A nearly 20,000-sq-ft hangar is available at the Paradise Aviation Center located at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. Large enough to accommodate a BBJ or a pair of Gulfstream IVs along with a Falcon 50, the structure also includes another approximately 5,800 sq ft of office, lounge, restroom and dining space as well as a climate-controlled 12-car garage.

Orange County, Calif.-based Macair recently announced it has launched a subsidiary which will become the exclusive private jet handling company at Erbil International Airport. Under the name Macair Flight Support, the independently run Iraq-based company is beginning construction on a new FBO at the location.

Qatar-based aviation services provider Rizon Jet has expanded from its flagship Doha facility with the opening of its second FBO, located at London Biggin Hill airport. The new 130,000-sq-ft facility offers fueling, ground handling and customs clearance and features a state-of-the-art-hangar that can accommodate bizliners such as the ACJ and BBJ.

AvFuel has added a trio of new locations to its distribution network. In Morgantown, W.Va., Morgantown Municipal Airport (MGW) operates the recently remodeled FBO, which provides ground services, aircraft ground handling, fuel and oil sales, hangar and tie-down space and pilot planning services. The airport features a 5,100-foot-long runway and FAA-contracted control tower and can accommodate large aircraft as well as small.
