Private flight booking portal Victor is seeking to raise almost $2.3 million to expand its web-based business into German-speaking parts of Europe. According to founder Clive Jackson, membership has tripled, to around 670 people since Victor’s launch in August 2011. He declined to disclose transaction rates but insists that these too are growing.

GE Aviation, while it may still be associated largely with commercial and military powerplants, has been focusing its gaze on the business aviation market over the past several years.

Shawn O’Day, head of the company’s business and general aviation marketing, told AIN that although business aviation has historically been a segment of opportunity for GE, it is an area where the engine and systems maker sees potential. In fact, the company signaled its intention to expand its business and general aviation footprint at last year’s Paris Air Show.

ATR 72

American Eagle last month confirmed plans to replace all of its ATR 72 turboprops operating from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport with Embraer ERJ 135s, 140s and 145s. As a result, 14 markets throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas gained all-jet service beginning January 31.

Ventura Airconnect has launched the first intrastate, non-scheduled airline in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It operates twice daily flights between different city pairs within the state. From its bases at Bhopal and Indore, the airline connects Jabalpur, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Agra, Satna, Rewa and tiger resort destinations of Kanha and Bhandavgarh.

An Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC), tasked by the FAA to advise on ADS-B in introduction strategies, has recommended that the system not be mandated. In large part, this is because many of its potential applications have yet to be fully defined so the benefits payback period on an operator’s investment in the near future would be well outside the typical three-year standard for the major airlines, considered the system’s predominant user group.
