Yankee Pacific Aerospace has merged two of its holdings–Executive Aircraft Completions (EAC) and Cabin Innovations–into a single division called Cabin Innovations. The new company’s design, engineering and certification office will remain in Tulsa, Okla., with a production and engineering office based at Cabin Innovations’ new 39,630-sq-ft facility in Lewisville, Texas.

David Cann, the FAA’s former chief of the Flight Standards Service’s aircraft maintenance division, is now vice president of regulatory compliance for aircraft maintenance provider AAR of Wood Dale, Ill. Cann retired from his FAA job last January and formed consulting firm DC Aviation.

Hawker Beechcraft Services will become the second major business jet OEM service center to leave California when it closes its Van Nuys Airport facility on March 31. Last year, Cessna Aircraft announced that it is closing its Long Beach service center and moving those operations to a new facility in Mesa, Ariz.

The inaugural NBAA Light Business Airplane Conference (LBA2009) scheduled in March in San Diego will be held over the course of two days (March 13 and 14) instead of the originally planned three days, according to NBAA. The move to shorten the conference reflects the challenges posed by the state of the economy.

One of the chief architects of the 2003 demolition of Chicago’s Meigs Field has been arrested on federal bribery, corruption and fraud charges that include trying to sell the vacated U.S. Senate seat of President-elect Barack Obama. John Harris, 46, was taken into FBI custody on December 9 along with Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich.

A spokesman for U.S. Helicopter said the company could resume flights from New York’s Wall Street heliport early next year. U.S. Helicopter was forced to suspend its scheduled, $159-per-passenger Sikorsky S-76B service from New York’s Downtown/Wall Street heliport to Newark and JFK airports after the heliport’s new operator, FirstFlight, failed to develop a TSA-approved security plan.

Dassault on Friday downgraded its 2008 delivery planning for Falcons, citing new FAA “constraints.” The manufacturer said the delivery rate increase that was expected for the fourth quarter will not be met and some deliveries have been postponed to the first quarter of next year.
