Moline, Ill.-base Elliott Aviation has received supplemental type certificate (STC) approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the installation of a Honeywell digital flight data recorder (DFDR) in the Beechjet 400/400A and Hawker 400XP. Airflite and Piaggio Aero have signed an agreement to qualify and approve Singapore-based AirFlite Asia as an OEM-appointed maintenance provider for the Piaggio Aero Avanti/II in the Asia-Pacific region. Under the terms of the agreement the company will provide maintenance, repairs and overhaul services as well as spare parts. It is also home to Piaggio Aero’s Southeast Asian sales center, Kirkwall.
Hawker Beechcraft (HBC) has appointed Metrojet Hong Kong to its network of authorized service centers to support its Hawker 900/800/700 series. Metrojet, located on Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport, is the first HBC-authorized service facility in Hong Kong.
Smyrna Air Center has signed an agreement with GE Aviation to become an authorized service center for the M601 and H80 turboprop engines. Under the terms of the agreement Smyrna Air Center will offer comprehensive line maintenance, removal and re-installation of engines and LRUs and spares for the M601 and H80 engines. GE Aviation will provide Smyrna Air Center with material support and training.
Yesterday the NTSB released the finding of the cause of the May 24, 2008, Island Express helicopter accident in Two Harbors, Avalon, on Catalina Island, in California. The Eurocopter AS350D collided with terrain while landing after a flight from the Queensway Bay Heliport, Long Beach, Calif.
