The Airbus Corporate Jet Center (ACJC) has become the first completion center to install and activate a global communication suite (GCS) on a single-aisle Airbus. According to the company, Panasonic’s Ku-band antenna provides “superior” performance at high latitudes and in the equatorial region, with the Internet support necessary to operate an office or provide robust entertainment. Using only a single antenna, ACJC’s unidentified Middle Eastern client will be able to watch real-time TV from all over the world, enjoying the same type of entertainment at 35,000 feet that he would at home.

Jet Aviation and Vienna-based Art Aviation have reached an agreement whereby Jet Aviation will serve as the exclusive maintenance provider for Art Aviation’s fleet of aircraft. Founded in 2012, Art Aviation operates two Bombardier Global XRSs, two Global 6000s, a Boeing BBJ1 and a Dassault Falcon 900EX and Falcon 7X. Jet Aviation will provide scheduled base maintenance from its facilities in Basel or Geneva and line maintenance from its Moscow Vnukovo facility.

In its continued partnership with GE, StandardAero signed two license agreements to become an independent TruEngine authorized maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider for CF34 and CFM56 engines. According to StandardAero, it will be the first independent TruEngine-authorized MRO provider for CF34s and the second for CFM56s. Under this new status, CFM56 or CF34 engines overhauled by Standard Aero are eligible for TruEngine status, allowing the engine serial numbers to be included in a database made available to industry appraisers and potential buyers.

NASA Langley Research Center and the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) announced at the Paris Air Show that NASA will join CCAM as a government member. The move will create opportunities for joint participation in research and development of new surface-engineering technologies and manufacturing systems. NASA’s expertise, combined with the manufacturing capabilities of CCAM members, will speed the process of bringing novel technologies to market sooner, the agency said.

Bell Helicopter announcedforeign approval of seven products distributed through itsAeronautical Accessories brand.Approvals were received in May from the Ukraine State Aviation Administration, Brazil’sAgência Nacional de Aviação Civil(ANAC) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for numerous products, including Ukraine approvals for Bell 407 cabin floor protectors and baggage floor protectors; ANAC approvals for the health and usage monitoring system for the Bell 429, an antenna kit for the Bell 407

AAR has signed a letter of intent outlining a tentative two-phase project to establish a technical maintenance center in Ulyanovsk, Russia. The project, as initially defined, includes an aircraft parts distribution and logistics center, scheduled to open in the middle of next year, followed by a commercial aircraft maintenance facility, scheduled to open in 2015. “Our long-term growth strategy continues to address what is clearly a global opportunity for value-added aviation services,” said David Storch, chairman and CEO.

Greenpoint Technologies, a VIP completions center for Boeing Business Jets, has acquired an equity position in MRO Aviation Technical Services (ATS). The two have worked together for 15 years on VIP and head‐of‐state programs. Acquiring an equity position ensures Greenpoint will have the hangar capacity and installation labor required to meet current and future completion needs. Jon Buccola, Greenpoint chairman and founder, will serve on the ATS board of directors.

Comlux has taken delivery of its first Airbus ACJ321. It is now being outfitted by Comlux America in Indianapolis and is slated for delivery next year. Additional center tanks are also being installed to give the ACJ321 extra range. “This is an important year for Comlux because we are celebrating our 10th anniversary. We started to operate the ACJ family in 2006 and to date we have flown more than 15,000 charter hours on our Airbus fleet,” said Richard Gaona, president and CEO of Comlux, the Aviation Group.

Greenwich AeroGroup announced today that Atlantic Aero in Greensboro, N.C., and Western Aircraft in Boise, Idaho, have received AS9110 quality system certifications. Now all three Greenwich AeroGroup maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service centers are AS certified. The internationally recognized AS9110 standard focuses on MRO services and is an offshoot of the AS9100 standard that addresses the aviation industry. “We are extremely pleased with these achievements,” said Greenwich AeroGroup senior v-p Jeff Mihalic.

West Star Aviation recently launched a new and improved version of its Experience-on-Call app. Specifically designed for iPhone and iPad users, the free app can be downloaded from the iTunes store. The app was designed to provide direct contact to a full directory of professionals at West Star, wherever assistance is required. It allows users to select and directly contact the West Star team member who best fits their needs, based on aircraft type, service needed and location.
