GE Aviation is transferring responsibility for GE CF34-3 engine parts to Boeing subsidiary Aviall Services. Under the exclusive distributor agreement signed by GE Aviation and Aviall Services, Aviall will be responsible for forecasting, ordering and delivering all genuine OEM replacement parts that are unique to CF34-3 engines.

Aerospace Filtration Systems anticipates FAA supplemental type certification (STC) for its AgustaWestland AW139 inlet barrier filter (IBF) system in the next few months. AgustaWestland and Aerospace Filtration engineers worked together to design the IBF system for the AW139.

After 14 months as COO of U.S. operations for Jet Aviation, Jim Ziegler is leaving the company but will retain an advisory role. A 1979 graduate of Wichita State University, Ziegler spent 23 years at Learjet and Bombardier, including stints as president of Bombardier Aviation Services and vice president and general manager of Bombardier’s Learjet manufacturing operations.

The NTSB’s chief administrative law judge dismissed an FAA emergency order of revocation of a New Jersey A&P’s mechanic certificate, Inspection Authorization and commercial pilot certificate following an investigation resulting from a nose-gear collapse on a 1947 Beech Bonanza. “This case is just another example of the FAA’s abuse of prosecutorial discretion,” said attorney Gregory Winton, who represented the mechanic.

Flying Boat, also known as Chalk’s Ocean Airways, and insurance giant AIG are suing Northrop Grumman and Frakes Aviation following the fatal crash of a Chalk’s Grumman G-73 Mallard on Dec. 19, 2005. The Mallard’s right wing broke off shortly after takeoff and the amphibious turboprop twin crashed into the water near the Miami Seaplane Base, killing 18 passengers and two pilots.
