Sikorsky Aircraft has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mexican helicopter service provider Aeroservicios Especializados (ASESA) to jointly explore assembly and service opportunities in support of Black Hawk helicopters.

National Formosa University (NFU) and Pratt & Whitney signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding that allows NFU students to participate in a curriculum for commercial engine maintenance as well as other professional training at Pratt & Whitney’s customer training center (CTC) in China. During the six-week course NFU students will receive the same instructional and practical training as aircraft maintenance engineers.

Embraer has appointed John Holland Aviation Services (JHAS) as an authorized service center to provide line and heavy maintenance services for E-Jets from its base in Melbourne.

JHAS is the first official maintenance service provider in Australia appointed by Embraer Commercial Aviation business to provide maintenance services for our E-Jets line in Australia,” Alex Glock, Embraer Commercial Aviation vice president for Asia Pacific, told AIN.

Air Services, a division of Constant Aviation specializing in commercial aircraft maintenance and headquartered at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, opened a satellite accessory and composite facility in Columbus, Ohio. Stephen Maiden, Air Services president, said the satellite facility is dedicated to a single customer, which he declined to identify.

Mumbai-based Air Works India Engineering’s Delhi facility has become the first independent general aviation MRO organization in India to be awarded EASA Part 145 approval for general aviation aircraft. Nick White, Air Works vice president of general aviation, said, “This will allow us to release Hawker aircraft from 750s to 900XPs to European operators, but it is just the beginning. We will quickly add more aircraft types.” The 60-year-old company’s EASA-approved facility near Bangalore maintains the Airbus A320, Boeing 737 Classic/NG and ATR 42/72 series.

Danish commercial airline Cimber Sterling has selected StandardAero for its CFM International CFM56-7B engine maintenance services. The work is being performed at StandardAero’s GE-Designated Fulfillment Center in Winnipeg, Canada. According to StandardAero it has already completed two major repair events on Cimber Sterling’s CFM56-7B engines. The partnership was established with Cimber Sterling’s request for StandardAero to manage the MRO effort, including shipping and logistics, lease engine support, on-wing removal and re-installation, and core overhaul of engines.

AvWorks Aviation has completed a Learjet 24 dismantling and reclamation project at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. Under an agreement with Precision Aircraft Dismantling, the company financed and managed the project using Precision’s proprietary eco-friendly portioning process. According to AvWorks, it is the second successful green salvage project the two companies have completed together since December.

Aviation sales company WildBlue is now giving every buyer of a WildBlue aircraft three free oil changes during the first year of ownership (worth $450) as part of its SmartBuy program. The oil changes can be done anywhere the new aircraft owner chooses. WildBlue sells owner-flown piston aircraft, turboprops and light jets.

West Star Aviation has named Trevor Frase as maintenance manager at its Dallas Love Field location. With more than 14 years of experience in the aviation industry, Frase has an extensive background in quality assurance, fleet management and the requirements of Part 135 certificate operations. Before joining West Star he was a Part 145 maintenance supervisor for another organization.
