Jet Aviation Basel is the first completions center to sign a contract for a private Boeing 747-8 interior completion. The contract is with an undisclosed Middle Eastern client. The company’s in-house interior design studio also won the contract to design the cabin interior. A spokesman for Jet Aviation said the aircraft is slated to arrive in Basel early next year and will take about 24 months to complete.

Amac Aerospace Switzerland has expanded its maintenance and completion facility at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. The new hangar and production facility will allow the MRO to maintain and do completions on widebody aircraft. The 90,400-sq-ft hangar can accommodate a Boeing 747-8i, Airbus A330 and BBJ/A320 simultaneously and is large enough to accommodate an Airbus A380.
Snecma and Airbus Corporate Jet Centre (ACJC) have entered into an agreement for Snecma to support the CFM International CFM56-5B turbofans that power the Airbus Corporate Jetliner series. Snecma builds the CFM56 in a 50/50 joint venture with General Electric, while ACJC is responsible for the outfitting and support of Airbus executive aircraft.
“It’s about life-cycle cost management,” Tom Trotter, v-p and general manager of Chromalloy Castings, told AIN about the company’s new 150,000-sq-ft investment casting operation in Tampa, Fla. “We are now able to offer the industry a single source for engine component design, engineering, tooling, machining, repairs, coatings and now castings,” he said.
The FAA has extended the date for responses from December 6 to January 17 on its recent Notice of Proposed Policy regarding IA renewal clarification.
