NBAA’s 26th annual Maintenance Management Conference opened yesterday in San Diego, celebrating the contributions of flight department maintenance managers and highlighting opportunities to grow as managers and leaders. The conference this year is host to more than 100 exhibitors, including OEM service networks, avionics manufacturers, parts suppliers, training companies, engine overhaulers and more.

Netherlands-based Fokker Aircraft Services (FAS) has added aircraft interior “re-skinning” to its maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities. According to Stephen Hands, v-p of marketing and sales, the company is now one of only a few MRO providers in Europe to offer the service. The shop uses a vacuum applicator to re-skin the side panels, luggage bins and ceiling panels of aircraft interiors regardless of size or aircraft type.

Eurocopter Holding, a subsidiary of EADS, will acquire all of the issued and outstanding common shares of Vector Aerospace by way of a takeover bid at $13.49 in cash per common share. The offer values Vector Aerospace equity at approximately $648.7 million. Vector Aerospace provides both rotary-wing and fixed-wing maintenance, repair and overhaul services.

Duncan Aviation has introduced a phased interior maintenance program. According to a spokesman for the MRO, the program is designed to help operators plan for interior projects while increasing the longevity of a functional, aesthetically pleasing interior for their passengers.
