Last month, business aircraft flight activity in the U.S. rolled back slightly from a year ago, decreasing 1.3 percent, according to recently released TraqPak data from aviation services company Argus. Part 91 operations remained in positive territory, with a year-over-year increase of 2 percent, but fractional flying led the pack, climbing by 2.7 percent.

International Communications Group (ICG) is teaming with Overlook Consulting to bring operational approval services for future air navigation system (Fans1/A) and polar routing to pilots and flight departments using ICG’s NxtLink Iridium transceivers.
Equipment manufacturer Sagem, which is developing fly-by-wire (FBW) controls for the Eurocopter X4 medium-twin helicopter, said the system will improve safety, reduce pilot workload and enhance flying precision.
Avionics specialist Thales is claiming the Top Deck cockpit of the in-development Sikorsky S-76D medium-twin helicopter will be a “game changer.” It is designed to be “interactive, intuitive, integrated and safe,” Thales told AIN.
The TSA is willing to work to minimize the effect of its policies on general aviation (GA), Gregory Kulis, a member of NBAA’s Security Council and pilot for Limited Brands, said at an NBAA 2011 forum on the TSA’s GA policies on Tuesday.
As the 64th NBAA Convention closed yesterday, association president and CEO Ed Bolen deemed it a “highly successful” show. “What we are seeing is that the show is providing real value to the business aviation community, even in these challenging economic times,” he said.
