Negotiations are expected to resume tomorrow between Bell Helicopter and the more than 2,400 production and maintenance workers from United Auto Workers Local 218 that went on strike two weeks ago after rejecting a “last, best, and final offer” from the helicopter manufacturer.

The European Aviation Safety Agency earlier this month suspended the European type certificate (TC) held by bankrupt Eclipse Aviation. The company was granted the EASA type certificate on Nov. 21, 2008, and four days later it filed for bankruptcy. Attempts are currently under way by interested parties to purchase what remains of Eclipse’s assets, but the bankruptcy court has thus far accepted none of the bids.
Air Methods has petitioned the NTSB to revise its probable cause findings related to the fatal midair collision between an Air Methods Bell 407 and a Classic Helicopters Bell 407 on approach to Arizona’s Flagstaff Medical Center on June 29 last year. The NTSB found the probable cause of the accident was “both helicopter pilots’ failure to see and avoid the other helicopter on approach to the helipad.
A last-minute revision to legislation passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on Friday removed a requirement to set new greenhouse gas (GHG) emission standards for aircraft, potentially saving the U.S. commercial and business aviation industry billions of dollars between now and 2050. H.R.2454 would have called for business aviation’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to be cut by one third as early as 2012 and by 90 percent by 2050.
