Sikorsky Aircraft yesterday disclosed at the American Helicopter Society International annual technical forum in Grapevine, Texas, plans to build and test a demonstrator for a new class of coaxial helicopters that will have improved vertical flight capabilities and will cruise at 250 knots. The UK intends to push for carbon dioxide emission trading for aviation while it holds the office of presidency of the European Union for six months, beginning July 1. Jill Adam of the UK’s DOT told a business aviation convention last month in Geneva that the aviation community, including business aviation, must own up to its responsibilities. “In other words, the polluter pays,” she said.

Midcoast Aviation and Savannah Air Center were selected as factory authorized preferred completion centers to conduct interior completions for the Bombardier Global 5000 and Global Express XRS. Based in St-Louis, Mo., Midcoast Aviation, is a full-service aircraft maintenance, modification and completions provider, including avionics and exterior paint services.

Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), a senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, criticized the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) plan to reopen Reagan National Airport to general aviation.
