NBAA today unveiled some long-anticipated potential changes to GA security. New security measures could include required government approval for all flights on a flight-by-flight basis and freedom for the federal government to access internal documents and implement and modify operators’ security procedures.

On Sunday at EAA AirVenture Honeywell’s Bendix/King division unveiled two new products that are designed to win back market share from rival Garmin. The Bendix/King KSN 770 is a GPS WAAS navigator with integrated VHF navcom radios, joystick cursor controller and 5.7-inch-diagonal VGA display.

At a Senate hearing on FAA financing last week, Delta Air Lines COO Jim Whitehurst, speaking for the Air Transport Association (ATA), reiterated one of ATA’s longstanding assertions that tracking departures and time in the system is the best way to measure the costs that aircraft impose for ATC services. The association first proposed such tracking in March 2006.
