Cessna Aircraft sees growing demand in India for both the Caravan and Citation lines, the Wichita-based aircraft manufacturer said this week at Aero India, where it is displaying a Caravan and Citation Mustang. The company believes that applications for business aircraft there will increase in response to anticipated government reforms intended to improve infrastructure and free up market access.

Maintenance provider Air Works India Engineering soft-launched its new aircraft appearance division in Mumbai late last week. The completions facility has already been approved by India’s civil aviation authority and is expected to gain EASA certification next year, according to Air Works.

Pre-owned Hawker 700/800/900s are currently “significantly undervalued,” Brian Proctor of business jet broker and consultancy Mente Group said today at the NBAA Aircraft Finance, Registration and Legal conference in Bonita Springs, Fla. He contends that prices of these aircraft could potentially double (from current values, depending on the specific model) soon after Hawker Beechcraft exits bankruptcy later this month.

Comlux Aviation Group had an “excellent” year in 2012 and is expecting even better in 2013, according to chairman and president Richard Gaona. While the company’s Zurich, Switzerland-based charter and aircraft management operation contributes the greater percentage of annual revenue, Gaona is especially encouraged by the growth at Comlux America, the group’s Indianapolis, Ind.-based bizliner completion and refurbishment center.

Hawker Beechcraft appointed Ted Farid as sales vice president for the Asia-Pacific region, which spans all of North and South Asia, including India. He joined HBC in 1996 and has most recently served as senior vice president for international sales and new business development. For now, Farid will continue to be based at Beechcraft’s headquarters in Wichita, but he plans to relocate to the Asia-Pacific region, mostly likely either Singapore or Hong Kong.

Clearwater, Fla.-based Piaggio Avanti fractional provider Avantair recalled all of its remaining 15 furloughed pilots yesterday, company CEO Steve Santo told AIN. This brings Avantair’s pilot ranks to 194 people, not including 10 pilots who opted to bypass during the recalls following a voluntary fleet grounding and subsequent pilot furlough late last year.

Gulfstream announced today that its new super-midsize G280 has received type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The twinjet, which replaces the G200, can seat up to 10 passengers and has a range of 3,600 nm at Mach 0.80. A joint effort between the Savannah airframer and Israel Aerospace Industries, the G280 earned U.S. and Israeli certification last August and entered service in November.
