The FAA issued the final in a series of 50 Technical Standard Orders (TSO) for the Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics system last week. The next step for Fusion is the STC for installation in Rockwell Collins’s Challenger 601 test airplane followed by certification on a Bombardier Global Express XRS.

One year after ash from the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano grounded most aircraft in Europe for several days, ICAO’s European and North Atlantic Volcanic Ash Exercises Steering Group conducted Volcex 11/01, a two-day exercise designed to simulate the effects on ATC of the eruption of different Icelandic volcanoes.

The 56th Annual Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar (CASS), jointly sponsored by NBAA and the Flight Safety Foundation, last week hosted about 350 attendees and 30 exhibitors. The first production-conforming Nextant Aerospace 400XT will make its public debut next month at EBACE in Geneva. The 400XT–a remanufactured Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP with Williams FJ44-3AP engines, Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and a zero-timed airframe complete with new paint and interior–has better fuel specifics and a greater 2,005-nm range than a base airplane. Winglets will be offered as an option in the near future.
